Everyone knows that ceiling insulation keeps you cool in summer and warm in
winter. There are also specially designed batts for walls that help to keep the
noise out.
If you’re renovating and the wall linings are coming off that’s the
perfect time to fit them.
Batts can be a skin and eye irritant so safety preparation is needed. This
includes wearing goggles, gloves and a mask. Don’t open the packet until you’re
ready to fit the batts. Clean up any dust and debris from inside your walls
using a vacuum cleaner .
There are two studs spacings 450mm and 600mm, measure the space before you buy.
When installing the batts fit them snugly between the studs.
Use a utility knife to cut batts.
If you have power cables and light switches do not cover them up. Using string
staple the batts in if the wall isn’t going to be sealed back up straight away,
if the batts touch the bricks it will transfer moisture into the home.
