The walls in your home take a fair amount of punishment over the years, so re-painting is a regular task. When you select paints for them you should think about the type of paint, as much as you think about the colour, because you don’t want to paint too often.

The final result is governed by the amount of preparation you do before starting. Scape off loose flaky paint and plaster, wash walls with Selleys Sugar Soap, repair cracks and gaps with Spakfilla, sand and wipe down.

Apply a good undercoat as recommended by the manufacturer of your topcoat. Faye chose Wash & Wear because its aquasmart technology means that liquids like beetroot juice or red cordial will bead on the surface and not be absorbed.

Cut-in around edges and corners and then fill in with a medium-nap roller using confident strokes in a “W” pattern. Don’t go over areas that have partially dried.

For best results apply a second coat of Wash & Wear. You only have to wait two hours to apply a second coat of this paint, and its finished!

tip Faye’s Tip:
Soak your brushes before use – water for water-based paints, turps for oil-based paints – and wipe off before loading with paint.

Dulux Wash & Wear 101 Advanced is available from Dulux Trade Centres and all leading hardware stores.
