MITREPLAN - TREATED PINE RETAINING WALL - Kevin Farrell

Kevin shows us how to level out a sloping block with a treated pine timber retaining wall.

You will need 100mm sized treated pine posts to form the uprights of the cantilevered wall. The face is made up of wing splits - treated pine posts cut in half.

Tools required are chain saw, safety gear, gravel for drainage, fasteners, coach bolts, galvanised spikes and rapid set concrete.

Before you start digging locate services, including power, gas, water and phone lines.

Use a shovel, not a mattock or pick, to dig gently. If unsure, dial 1100 (nationally) for utility site plan info. Itís also a good idea to check with your local council for any special rules you might have to follow.

Follow the Mitre 10 MITREPLAN- BUILD A PINE POLE FENCE for all the details.
